Photo ? ChatGPT ? paste ? done
Hi friend, here is the exact flow we use for this project. Keep this page for your friends so everyone does it the same way.
Open your MTG binder / album.
Take photos page by page.
Make sure card names are readable - good light, not blurry.
1. Open chatgpt.com - register if you have not.
2. Open new chat and paste this command first:
You are my assistant helping to read Magic: The Gathering cards from photos of my album pages.
For each photo I send, carefully identify the *card names only* - no set codes, no card types, no other details.
Return your answer as a clean list of card names in this format:
Card name;;1
If a card appears more than once, merge them and show the total, like:
Cranial Plating;;2
Solemn Simulacrum;;1
Aphemia, the Cacophony;;3
Rules:
- Do NOT include any text that isn't an MTG card name.
- Do NOT add bullet points, numbering, or explanations.
- One card per line, exactly in this structure:
Card name;;quantity
- Do NOT include blank lines at the end.
- If a name isn't perfectly clear, make your best guess but keep the same structure.
- Output only the final list (no comments, no intro, no summary).
Example of correct final output:
Master of the Feast;;1
Cranial Plating;;2
Solemn Simulacrum;;1
Aphemia, the Cacophony;;3
I will paste your output directly into a PHP bulk import system that expects exactly this format.
3. In ChatGPT, send the page photos (but not more than 3 at same time).
We already agreed that ChatGPT will return them in this format:
Card name;;1
Sometimes it will merge duplicates for you (e.g. Cranial Plating;;2).
You will have just clear list of cards in right format to use.
Select everything the assistant sent you (the lines with ;;)
Copy it to clipboard.
1. Go to Bulk paste in the top menu (our bulk_upload.php page).
2. Paste all your lines there.
3. Press Import.
Format reminder:
Master of the Feast;;1
Cranial Plating;;2
Solemn Simulacrum;;1
Set code is optional, that's why we leave it empty (;;).
Go to My Cards.
You can now filter, sort (by name/price), edit name, change set, change quantity, or log a trade.
Don't upload 200 blurry photos - good photos = less fixing.
If ChatGPT misreads a card name, just go to Edit and fix the name - the app will re-fetch the correct image/info.
If you add tons of cards, use the filters and pagination to browse.
